Davian Andrew Pallotto, of Prospect in New Haven County, died after he rolled his 2007 Cadillac CTS around 11:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, Connecticut State Police said.

Pallotto was driving north on I-91 when he veered across a lane of traffic onto a grassy median, where the car lost control near Exit 23 and began to tumble, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pallotto played running back for the Connecticut-based Tri-State Bruins, a semi-pro football team in the East Coast Football League, which also has teams in Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Dozens of friends, teammates, and fans posted condolences and remembrances for the young man known for his quick feet and big heart that they nicknamed "CMac." Many noted he had a bright future because of his work ethic and talent.

A GoFundMe for Pallotto has raised nearly $15,000 from more than 100 donors.
